“Open Dialogue for the Greek Olive Oil” Event

On Wednesday, June 19, an important event took place in Athens, by the Greek National Interprofessional Organization of Olive Oil, that covered significant aspects of the whole olive oil value chain.

The President of the Interprofessional Organization, Mr. Manolis Giannoulis, representative also of the Olive Pomace Association, referred to the need of the development of a national strategy, with equal participation of all the individual branches, in order to deal with the critical issues of the sector.

The first session of the event regarding the national strategy on olive oil policy was coordinated by Mr. Vassilis Zampounis, Agroeconomist – Editor of Olive Oil & Olive, who also intervened by stating the importance and necessity of a permanent cooperation among the state, the two interprofessional organizations of olive oil and table olives and the scientific community.

The event opened with the keynote speech of the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Mr. Stavros Arahovitis, who stressed that the first priority of the Ministry is the foundation of the Greek Olive Council.
